MarineNav Ltd is part of the Powerhouse group of companies
. Powerhouse was founded in 1992 by Kevan Merson with the goal of providing high-end information technology solutions for the offshore oil and gas industry. The Powerhouse originated in Aberdeen, Scotland — the capital of the European oil sector — with contracts worldwide. Powerhouse serves clients including oil / gas corporations, military, and pharmaceutical companies. From drill control systems to hardened navigation computers on supply vessels, Powerhouse developed, and continues to provide, a wide variety of technology to a diverse selection of clients globally.
As technology has changed, so has our business. With the emerging standardization of computer equipment and the declining influence of proprietary system manufacturers in the offshore navigation industry, MarineNav was established in November of 2003 to compete in this rapidly growing sector. Originally a research and development company with a mandate to build world class small footprint on-board computer systems, MarineNav's focus is the implementation of ruggedized computers for vessel management, monitoring, and navigation.
From its beginning as a single product, MarineNav rapidly expanded to be its own transatlantic company
with a base of operations in Prince Edward Island, Canada, that encompasses a manufacturing plant, a research and development centre, and a private wharf facility for its own R&D vessels. Our new facilities have enabled us to expand production and offer more options and features across our various MarineNav product lines.
What makes MarineNav unique? Quite simply, we are a North American company that actually manufactures equipment in North America. We build world-class ruggedized compact on-board computers for the global market, designed to be the most flexible, easy to use, and powerful systems available. As we are both the designer and manufacturer, we can support the product 100% knowing that MarineNav equipment was designed to meet and exceed the needs of industry.
