Rackmount installations are convenient and flexible, but unfortunately, standard 19 inch racks take up a lot of room. Since smaller vessels do not have the luxury of extra space, but still need reliable and easily installed computer systems, MarineNav Ltd developed the Barracuda series. Our proprietary 12” rack uses a fraction of the space a 19” rack would require, but provides a robust framework and ease of installation.
The Barracuda 1.5 computer has been built from the ground up to provide a remarkable amount of computing power in a tiny footprint. The Barracuda 1.5 offers the power of a full size computer in a chassis less than 2.5” tall. If you don’t want to install it in a rack, the system comes with surface/bulkhead mount brackets, and takes up less than one square foot of space.
Think that a computer this small can’t offer much performance? Think again. A dual core CPU and high performance video handle complex charting and navigation. VGA, DVI, and HDMI outputs allow connection to a wide variety of displays. A slot loading DVD drive and standard 64 GB SSD provides optimum system performance, and the 500 GB hard drive offers ample storage space. If you require more storage, the system is upgradeable to 1 TB of hard drive space.
